Comment:
I retired in 2011 from a 39 year career at the Dykema Gossett law firm, which now has over 400 attorneys in seven states and 12 offices.  Still married to Jackie Lang (55 years!!).  I volunteer as a board member and legal advisor for two downtown Detroit social agencies.  I also joined Rotary sixteen years ago and devote a lot of time and effort to its endeavors.

After high school I went to U of M and graduated with a major in Economics, then to law school at Harvard.  I interrupted the law school program for two years and taught junior high math in
Detroit Public schools and Liggett School to avoid the Viet Nam debacle.

We’ve been in GP since 1973 and loved participating in our kids’ educational progress through the same schools we attended.  Eric and Erin were both SA Presidents at Grosse Pointe (South) High during their senior years.  After Eric died in 1992 (age 18-1/2) due to muscular dystrophy, we started a scholarship fund in his name, and through the generosity of many others awarded over $60,000 in annual scholarships to deserving students.

I still enjoy long-distance biking.  Jon Gandelot (Class of '62) and I biked the 393 mile Erie Canal path in June 2010, and I bike around the great City of Detroit each weekend.  I've also taken several organized biking trips, including one across Death Valley for a week, and a coast-to-coast trip across England in 2006 with my brother John and his wife.   Jackie and I have been able to travel quite a bit during the past few years.

Our oldest daughter, Lauren, is married and has two children.  They recently moved to Ann Arbor.  Daughter
Erin
is a progam manager for Ford Motor and recently bought a house in Corktown.  She moved back after spending 5 years in L.A. in the advertising business and 7 years in Chicago as a recruiter.
Number of grandchildren (names optional): 2
Children's names and ages (optional): Eric (dec.), Lauren, and Erin
Spouse: Jackie Lang (Class of 1963)

Hello to All!

Went to Michigan State after GPHS. Met Judy in Bermuda in 1966, where my dad and stepmother lived, and got married in 1968.

I have worked for the same company for 39 years as an electronics engineer, providing highly accurate sound reinforcement systems in meeting rooms (like churches) and video surveillance systems, mostly for police departments. Judy has been a court reporter (stenographer) for 37 years. We have always been paid for what we do rather than for hours logged, so we have traveled much of the world.

I became a Christian in 1987 and we both went on 11 two-week mission trips to the former Soviet Union in the middle of winter, from 1995 to 2007---brrrr! Life-changing experiences, for sure. We were the first Americans most Russians had ever seen.

Besides singing BARIT-tone in the choir (get it?), I enjoy riding our Harley Softail, shooting in competitive pistol matches, skiing, digital videography and photography, and traveling.

Life is surely a blessing...will be married 45  joyful years this year with the help of our loving God--couldn't have lasted that long without Him! We have a wonderful Schnauzer and good health.

Hope you all are well and enjoying life!

Been a long time.
I've been self employed for the past 20 years doing acoustical consulting out here in Southern California. That has managed to keep me quite busy.

I work out of our home in Carlsbad and have no reason to retire any time soon.
Over the years, life has been very good to us and allowed us the freedoms to travel and work at the same time.

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Retired
Comment: I'm working part time for a non profit doing some fund raising and also assisting a Clinical Psychologist in starting a small alternative school.

We have done some traveling to the Czech Republic(to visit the "homies"), Slovakia, Hungary,  Austria, Brazil, Italy, and France.

Recently, I have been working on an instrument rating in the airplane along with some training in avionics repair and airplane mechanics.

We have children in New York as well as California and six grandchildren. Great fun watching them grow up.

We were in Nyaak, New York and saw a poster for a concert. It listed a bass player, Cameron Brown, I was stunned since we had played together in bands in high school and I had tried to find him. I think he lives in Florida.

The Los Angeles contingent of the class of 63 is still active. We keep Bud Jacobs in it out of sympathy and continue to support Larry Link's delusions of granduer. Roger Coyro's occupation is still a mystery and Cathy Dewolf appears and disappears turning up in India or Hawaii or the local hostel.

Thanks to all who are working on this site as well as email updates and planning.

Hope I'll be ready for the next one. I lost my husband Ed (class of 62 ) last year. And I'm trying to get used to a new sort of life. Robert Kimball

Marital status: Married
Children: 4
Occupation: Retired - College Professor
Comment: It seems like so long ago! After graduation from GPHS, I attended the University of Michigan and ultimately received a B.S with a major in physics. Rather than visit Viet Nam, I decided to teach high school physic in Dearborn Heights. One thing led to another and I eventually earn a PH.D. from U of M in Science Education.

I then spend 17 years as a professor at Mercy College of Detroit, and continued with another 18 years at Madonna University as the Dean of the College of Education. During this time I wrote commercial software on the side and also became one of the largest amateur beekeepers in south eastern Michigan.

I just retired in July (08). I am enjoying my second marriage to Monika. She is currently the Director of the ESL program at Madonna University. Because of her interest in languages (German is her first language), we have done a lot of traveling during our sixteen years together. We have four children from previous marriages and ten grandchildren. I am struggling a little bit to figure out what to do with all my free time. I enjoy gardening, wooden kayak building, and still have an interest in astronomy. I'm sure other opportunities will appear.

Update:  March 2023

We moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 2011 to retire.  We're very happy with the weather and the people.  I don’t think you’ll find a friendlier community.   (I know many people in this country are concerned about immigration along our southern boarder.  It's not a problem, 99% great people and hard working)

We’ve been active in the Jewish community (though I remain a life long atheist) .    I am very active with astrophotography hobby taking camping trips out to dark sites with my teardrop camper and I also play competitive bridge every week.

Lest I sound too positive, I have an estranged daughter and have fought depression since I was 18.  Fortunately the depression issue disappeared with medication.  My other daughter is the chairperson of the council governing the Big Island of Hawaii.

Glad to be 78 and still in very good health.
