Comment:
I retired in 2011 from a 39 year career at the Dykema Gossett law firm, which now has over 400 attorneys in seven states and 12 offices.  Still married to Jackie Lang (55 years!!).  I volunteer as a board member and legal advisor for two downtown Detroit social agencies.  I also joined Rotary sixteen years ago and devote a lot of time and effort to its endeavors.

After high school I went to U of M and graduated with a major in Economics, then to law school at Harvard.  I interrupted the law school program for two years and taught junior high math in Detroit Public schools and Liggett School to avoid the Viet Nam debacle.

We’ve been in GP since 1973 and loved participating in our kids’ educational progress through the same schools we attended.  Eric and Erin were both SA Presidents at Grosse Pointe (South) High during their senior years.  After Eric died in 1992 (age 18-1/2) due to muscular dystrophy, we started a scholarship fund in his name, and through the generosity of many others awarded over $60,000 in annual scholarships to deserving students.

I still enjoy long-distance biking.  Jon Gandelot (Class of '62) and I biked the 393 mile Erie Canal path in June 2010, and I bike around the great City of Detroit each weekend.  I've also taken several organized biking trips, including one across Death Valley for a week, and a coast-to-coast trip across England in 2006 with my brother John and his wife.   Jackie and I have been able to travel quite a bit during the past few years.

Our oldest daughter, Lauren, is married and has two children.  They recently moved to Ann Arbor.  Daughter Erin is a progam manager for Ford Motor and recently bought a house in Corktown.  She moved back after spending 5 years in L.A. in the advertising business and 7 years in Chicago as a recruiter.
Number of grandchildren (names optional): 2
Children's names and ages (optional): Eric (dec.), Lauren, and Erin
Spouse: Jackie Lang (Class of 1963)

I married our class president, Paul Rentenbach, and we celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary last July.  Both of us graduated from the University of Michigan in 1967, married that year and moved to Boston, where Paul completed a law degree from Harvard and I began my career as an elementary school teacher.  When we returned to Grosse Pointe in 1972, I completed my first Master’s degree in education from Wayne State.  I completed a second Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1987.  I was a full time mother and volunteer for fourteen years after our three children were born.  I returned to teaching in the Grosse Pointe Schools in 1987, teaching at both Ferry Elementary and Trombly Elementary. I retired in 2011.  Our three children, Eric, Lauren and Erin all attended “The High”.  Eric and Erin both served as Student Association President and each won the Kaloger Award twice for outstanding leadership. Eric died in 1992 from complications due to Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  Raising a handicapped child was a challenge, but Eric has been an inspiration for our family and so many friends due to his positive outlook and perseverance.  Lauren attended Prescott College and majored in Environmental Studies.  She met her husband, Daniel Hunt, at college and they are now living in Ann Arbor with our two grandchildren, Sylvia Kay who is sixteen years old and Tobias David who is fourrteen.  Erin graduated from Michigan State University, majoring in Communications.  She lives in the Corktown area of Detroit.  I enjoy needlework, tennis, reading and music for my hobbies.
Number of grandchildren (names optional): 2--Sylvia age 20 and Toby, age 18
Children's names and ages (optional): Eric(deceased), Lauren, and Erin.
Spouse: Paul Rentenbach

I loved high school and from GPHS went to U of M., graduating in '67.  I met John there, we married, and I taught Speech Therapy in Belleville until he finished Law School.  We then moved to NYC for a little more than six years.  John is still working at Dickinson Wright as a Patent Attorney.  Our son, John, works with him.  Our second son, Ken, is a JAG Major in the Air Force. He is the Assistant to the Head of the JAG Core, writing speeches for him and organizing his schedule.   Our youngest son, Greg is a Head and Neck Surgeon in Grand Rapids. All are U of M grads.  We love to travel, play golf and tennis.  We have two Havanese dogs to keep us company at home. We have enjoyed are life and feel blessed to have had a chance at such a good education.  We enjoy our grandchildren and love to stay active.  Can't wait to catch up with you all.

I spent most of my career in the printing business in sales and marketing.   I retired in 2006 from Tweddle Litho Company as VP Sales and Marketing.  After retiring, we moved to Arizona where we enjoyed the change of climate from Michigan.   We do a lot of traveling but when not traveling, we enjoy hiking, biking, reading, and a lot of golf.
Moved to San Antonio in 2013 to be closer to family and are loving every minute of it. Hope to see you all at the 60th reunion (if we have one). Best regards,  Doug
