I am spending my senior years as a Snowbird. I winter in the SW sunshine and summer here in Michigan. I love to travel and have taken my RV to 48 states and 9 provinces but have visited all 50 of our wonderful states. So much to see and do! I lost my husband a few years ago and although I miss him terribly, life goes on. I am enjoying life, travel and family. My travel and life side kick is my Shih Tzu pup, Shelby. She goes everywhere with me and love to 'go too'.
It seems we have hit that age bracket where we are losing more and more of our old friends. So sad to lose them. Would love to reconnect with old high school friends. It is now 2023. I can't believe how blessed I have been. My second husband, Al Harrow, died in 2011. We had 25 wonderful years together. He was my soulmate. I am now with a wonderful gentleman who has been a good friend (he & his wife) since 2009. We met walking our dogs in Arizona and soon the 4 of us were good friends. Barb soon became the sister I never had. Howard lost Barb in 2017 to cancer but not before she had a chance to tell him "you and Claudia would make a good couple." I thank her every day for Howard is my second soulmate! How many people get the chance to have 1 soulmate let alone 2? As I said, I have been very blessed. We had a rough winter this year. I had a total knee replacement on Dec. 1st and suffered horribly for two and a half months! Fortunately my oldest, Michele flew out to San Diego Feb 7 and got me walking all over the place which broke up my scar tissue and freed me of the constant pain. Howard also had surgery on Jan. 1st and developed a surgical infection which he has just now gotten over. We are fortunate enough to summer in Northern Vermont and winter in AZ. We purchased a class C Motorhomes for traveling from AZ to VT along with my sidekick, Shelby Shih Tzu, and his two Shih Tzus. His pups passed a few years ago and my beloved Shelby died in my arms July 2, 2022. We drove from N. VT to Roanoke VA to pick up my new puppy, Zoey, also a Shih Tzu. Zoey is maturing slowly as she just reached the 1 year mark and is loaded with energy. I am sure she is ADHD and maybe slightly demented. Looking forward to this reunion. |

Hello to everyone seeing this, whether I knew you or not.....I won't be at the reunion but I hope everyone has a wonderful time, full of remembrance and new encounters. I think and read a lot about Michigan these days, which seems like ground zero for some remarkable and infamous developments in these recent years. I hope everyone who is living there can do something to get things turned around, particularly on the education front. On a more sanguine note, I am putting out there (anywhere I can), the recommendation to read a book by a northern Michigan man, David Milarch, called The Man Who Planted Trees. He is a tree farmer who started down a long road to find and preserve the genetic heritage of champion trees. In the book, many of these champions become actual characters, quite a few by name, and it is riveting to learn their stories. wishing you all well, Kathy |
