Jacqueline Rentenbach (Lang)

Marital status: Married
Children: 3
Occupation: teacher--retired
Comment: I married our class president, Paul Rentenbach, and we celebrated our 53rd wedding anniversary last July.  Both of us graduated from the University of Michigan in 1967, married that year and moved to Boston, where Paul completed a law degree from Harvard and I began my career as an elementary school teacher.  When we returned to Grosse Pointe in 1972, I completed my first Master’s degree in education from Wayne State.  I completed a second Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1987.  I was a full time mother and volunteer for fourteen years after our three children were born.  I returned to teaching in the Grosse Pointe Schools in 1987, teaching at both Ferry Elementary and Trombly Elementary. I retired in 2011.  Our three children, Eric, Lauren and Erin all attended “The High”.  Eric and Erin both served as Student Association President and each won the Kaloger Award twice for outstanding leadership. Eric died in 1992 from complications due to Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  Raising a handicapped child was a challenge, but Eric has been an inspiration for our family and so many friends due to his positive outlook and perseverance.  Lauren attended Prescott College and majored in Environmental Studies.  She met her husband, Daniel Hunt, at college and they are now living in Ann Arbor with our two grandchildren, Sylvia Kay who is sixteen years old and Tobias David who is fourrteen.  Erin graduated from Michigan State University, majoring in Communications.  She lives in the Corktown area of Detroit.  I enjoy needlework, tennis, reading and music for my hobbies.
Number of grandchildren (names optional): 2--Sylvia age 20 and Toby, age 18
Children's names and ages (optional): Eric(deceased), Lauren, and Erin.

THANKS  to our glorious classmates who brightened our lives growing up in gorgeous parkland Grosse Pointe.

I’m especially thankful for our FANTASTIC teachers who inspired me as I taught adult foreign students using methods I so admired.

I’m MOST thankful for the smartest guy in my advanced math class though, Bob Johnson whom I married back in 1968 with our ceremony in Grosse Pointe.  We just had our 40th anniversary AND BOTH just retired … JOYFUL about sharing lives with our two sons, daughter, and grandchildren (ages 6&7 and one-year-old twins).
Number of grandchildren (names optional): 4
Children's names and ages (optional): Matt (39), Joel (37), and Tricia (29)
Spouse: Bob Johnson

Carolyn Jayne (Lang)

Marital status: Committed Relationship
Children: 1
Occupation: music tacher
Comment:  After two years of Albion College, I married a fellow Albion student and moved to Detroit where I finished my education at Wayne State University with a Master of Arts in Teaching.   I taught elementary vocal music in the Detroit Public Schools for a few years.   My husband and I divorced; then we remarried, moved to San Francisco, and divorced again.    Son Karl lives in Seattle with his wife and their son Kaden, born in 2004.   I have been teaching music part time in my neighborhood elementary school since Karl was a student there in 1975.   In my other job as gigging musician I have sung and played guitar as a solo act and in bands in venues such as bars, clubs and special events in Northern California since the 1970s, and also in Japan in the 1980s and 1990s.   My band The Jayne Gang plays a broad spectrum of music generally called country-western but includes folk, bluegrass, and standards.   My mate of 25 years, Billy Stone, plays and sings with me.  In 2010 I had a serious fall with subsequent brain injury and am currently less inclined to perform in public.  Music has helped my slow recovery; I still teach music at the local school and regularly visit my grandson in Seattle.
Number of grandchildren (names optional): 1 grandson
Children's names and ages (optional): 1 son, Karl age 45
Spouse: Billy is my S.O./D.P.
